Simple lazy afternoon at Carpenter and Cook in singapore

After hearing much raves and positive comments about Carpenter and Cook located at a quiet corner of Toh Tuck, we decided to head down after lunch to try it out.

If you are thinking of filling your stomach with Main courses, then you will be sorely disappointed. However if you are heading for a quaint and unique place for desserts and tea, then you are in for a warm surprise at this quiet street.

The place is decorated with a vintage theme and old pieces of furniture were specially chosen to embellish every corner of the café. Besides selling tarts, cakes and other desserts, they also do sell English breakfast teapot sets.

As we had gone down during lunch time,we were fortunate to find a seat. We tried the following:

1. Caramel walnut cheesecake($7.00)

The cake is moist, soft and tasted really fresh. The amount of caramel used did not make the cake too sweet and the walnuts used added to the crunchiness of the cake. Highly recommended!

2.Sticky Toffee Walnut brownie($6.50)

This came across to us as overly rich and dense.
In fact,we really struggled to finish this piece and our difficulty was worsened since we found it to be overly sweet for our liking.

3.bacon quiche

There has been reviews that all their tarts, cakes and quiches are made from the freshest ingredients and we definitely agreed with this after we had taken our first bite into our first savoury item from this cafe. They were generous with the amount of bacon bits and we love the rich cheese and egg taste. Definitely going back to try other quiches!

4. Lemon Meringue Tart($6.50)

Im not really into lemons but my mister is. He savoured every bite of this. The mixture of sweetness and sourness combined well. Its no wonder nearly nearly everyone ordered this when we went.

To sum it up,this cafe offers a lovely ambience to catch up with friends or just to enjoy some desserts over a cup of tea on a lazy afternoon.
